Surfing Dog is a side project started by Vladimir Kudryavtsev and Gregory Sandomirsky, founders of the critically acclaimed avant-garde sextet, Goat's Notes. Generally keeping the methods and principles of its mother band—live interaction in real time and spontaneous improvisation—Surfing Dog focuses on a more clubby, rhythmic sound, moving freely from jazz to surf rock, reggae and pop. Essentially a supergroup, Surfing Dog has been moving towards its current sound for almost 10 years, trying to develop with each performance. At last, the show on December 7, 2020 seemed worthy of publication. The recording, released virtually without cuts, captures the atmosphere of the band's concerts perfectly—a non-stop flight of collective imagination giving rise to striking musical landscapes. A unique lineup plays a key role in this: Andrey Bessonov, bass clarinet; Oleg Mariakhin, baritone saxophone; Vladimir Rusinov, guitar; Gregory Sandomirsky, organ, voice; Guram Machavariani, bass guitar; Piotr Talalay, drums, electronics.
